Office Space in Mountain View Open to AU Teams Dropping in on West Coast
(Mountain View, CA) – Sept. 16, 2014 – The American Underground is teaming with Red Hat to share space at the open source leader’s office in Mountain View with America Underground’s Durham and Raleigh tenants. Dubbed the American Underground Foxhole, the space may prove pivotal to startups as they demonstrate their products and expand their networks.
“We’re excited to be working with The American Underground to provide new and innovative companies with access to Red Hat’s Mountain View office, which provides a great working environment,” said Mike Werner, senior director, ISV and Developer Ecosystems, Red Hat. “Our teams have been flourishing in Mountain View for years; we believe that American Underground’s companies will find the space just as conducive to their own successes.”
The Foxhole will be available to all American Underground teams from its three locations: American Underground @ American Tobacco, American Underground @ Main and American Underground @ Raleigh. It will also be available to teams in the American Underground’s partner network, including those associated with Duke University.
“With so much of the money, and many of the customers and partners for the Triangle’s startups located in the Bay area, having a fractional business workspace available out there at no cost can be a huge enabler,” says John Cambier, founding managing partner at IDEA Fund Partners. “We’ve found that just “hanging around the rim” helps enable the meetings and opportunities that can make the difference between a company getting funded or scaling to the next level.”
Mason Ailstock, vice president of business development, Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina, adds, “The Foxhole represents a belief that RTP and our region shares with entrepreneurs, investors and global firms: ideas thrive when collaboration is unrestricted. Sending teams and entrepreneurs to Silicon Valley not only exposes them to opportunities, it also showcases the talent and incredible value the Triangle has to offer. The effect of both could be the kind of investments that help young companies grow, create jobs and foster more game-changing ideas.”
