During a Startup Weekend event, people get together on Friday and pitch ideas for a new company, tool, or other venture. People group into teams and spend the weekend to build the business model: coming up with a plan, doing market research, reaching out to customers for validation, and hopefully create a minimum viable product or prototype. 54 hours later, they present their idea to a panel of judges, who will evaluate their idea, as well as an audience that includes potential collaborators and investors. This is the first specifically health-themed event held in the Triangle. There will be sponsors who are coming prepared to offer their own resources and problems to teams, in order to seed the pool of potential topics that teams might cover.
